Welcome to our Student Led conferences. Here you will find information we introduced you to in our classroom.
MATHS
Basic Facts Homework (Complete one section at a time. You have one minute to answer all the questions orally. Otherwise you have to keep working on that section until you can answer them all.)
Maths.co.nz Information for Families (How maths works at school, knowledge homework activities, cool links, videos.)
Number Knowledge Lilypads:
Stage 4 Advanced Counting: I count on or back from the largest number in my head. I focus on addition and subtraction and I work with counting up to (and back from) 100.
Stage 5 Early Additive: I break numbers into parts like tens or hundreds to work with them. I am learning my 2, 5 and 10 times tables, and my 3s. I count up to (and back from) 1000.
Stage 6 Advanced Additive: I break numbers into parts, and am learning the rest of my times tables. I use more than one strategy to solve problems in my head and I can choose the best option for solving a problem. I count up to (and back from) 1 million.
LITERACY:
The Westmere Spelling Lists
The National Standards for Literacy: These are aspirational. That means that in the future, the Ministry of Education hopes all children at these levels might be able to achieve at these levels, but it is a higher expectation than children should be able to achieve normally.
The Reading Matrix (What we learn in reading at school)
